The Way of the Elders- Drumming of Guidance, Connection & Healing
There is an ancient rhythm that lives within us. A remembering carried through the seasons, through the land, and through the circle. The Way of the Elders is a monthly shamanic practice rooted in respect for Earth-based wisdom traditions. This space honours the old ways- the teachings of listening, connection, and rhythm. Walking the path with devotion to the old ways and grounded awareness.
Each gathering begins with a guided teaching exploring themes of seasonal wisdom and grounded spiritual practice.
Our first session was devoted to The Way of the Shaman, exploring the roots of the path and the reverence required to walk it. In our second circle, we turned toward the drum, building relationship with its spirit and learning how sacred tools support ceremony and healing. In our third gathering, we stepped into the teachings of the Medicine Wheel, honouring the directions, the seasons, and the turning cycles of life.
And now, the circle turns once more.
In this next gathering, we explore the teachings of the Lower, Middle, and Upper Worlds. A foundational map within many shamanic traditions that helps us understand the layers of reality and consciousness.
We will explore:
🥁 The Lower World — often understood as the realm of roots, instinct, ancestral memory, and deep earth wisdom.
🥁 The Middle World — the realm of everyday reality, where spirit and matter meet and where we walk our human lives.
🥁 The Upper World — the realm of expanded awareness, insight, higher guidance, and subtle realms of spirit.
Rather than seeing these as distant places, we will explore them as states of consciousness — layers of experience we can access through intention, rhythm, and grounded awareness.
This teaching is not about escape.
It is about relationship.
Understanding how to journey safely.
How to remain grounded.
How to move between realms with clarity and respect.
In the second half of the evening, we will gather in circle for drumming — allowing rhythm to guide us gently through these layers of awareness, always returning to the centre, always returning to the body.
The drum becomes the bridge.
The rhythm becomes the pathway.
And we journey not to leave ourselves…
but to know ourselves more fully.

No experience is necessary. You are welcome whether you are new to this work or continuing to deepen your Earth-based practice.
